There's Snow Place Like Home

We had quite a snowstorm yesterday! It started in the night on Friday night and didn't stop until WELL after dinnertime last night. Apparently it is the most snow Poquoson has had in a VERY long time. We got out and played in it when we could - mostly in 15-20 minute increments followed by gallons of hot chocolate and warm bubble baths. LOL!

This is what we woke up to around 6:30 yesterday morning.

I decided to take pictures of the house throughout the day to show the changes in the snow. I took this one at 7:30 in the morning.

I think this is the first time I have ever actually seen a snow plow in action. It's subsequent trips up and down our road have left a HUGE pile of snow at the end of our driveway. I guess if I want to go anywhere today I am going to have to dig it out.

The snow fell pretty heavily throughout the day.

Then there were the extended periods of blowing snow.

Here's a pic of the house that I took around 12:45. Note the level of snow in relation to the bottom step.

Not too much going on in my neighborhood!

Hmmm, on second thought, maybe I won't plan on going anywhere today since I would have to dig out both the driveway AND my car.

This is the front door at about 3:30 in the afternoon.
Icicles!

The front steps at about 3:30.

Yes folks, that is correct. You are looking at nearly a FOOT of snow. It snowed for another 2 or 3 hours after this pic was taken, so we got well over a foot.

The girls before their first jaunt out into the snow. I just can't bring myself to buy them actual snow suits.

Summer had a little difficulty running in the nearly knee-deep soft powder. She would get going and then het feet would sink and stop moving. The rest of her, however, would keep right on going. I counted at least 5 face plants. No harm done though. She came up laughing every time.

I didn't get any pictures of it, but after I got the girls' snow disc out of the shed I had to run in and answer the phone. When I looked back out the kitchen window, Paige was standing on top of the dog house with the disc. She then proceeded to jump onto it and slide off the roof. I guess she stuck to the rules. I told her she couldn't take it down the slide. Sliding off the roof of the dog house never even crossed my mind.

They had tons of fun sliding down the slide into the snow drift at the bottom. I have to say that I was tempted to try that one myself.
We love snow!!

Let me just take this moment to note that Deisel LOVES the snow. He jumped and ran around like a puppy. A great big 100 pound puppy.
I couldn't get Daisy to stand still long enough for a picture, so this is the best one I got.

These are my boots in the snow at 9:15. Please ignore my very comfy pajama pants.

These are my boots in the snow at 12:45. By this time I had made it into sweatpants.

And here are my boots in the snow at 3:30. Sorry, no actual clothes. The sweatpants are as far as I got.

After a long day of playing outside, Summer was done. I took this pic at 7:30 and she had been asleep for a good half hour.

Today we woke up with the sun blindingly bright on the still very deep snow. Now it's time for me to get off the computer and get outside and enjoy it!
