Soccer has begun again! Paige is very happy to be back in her element. Much to her dismay, her coach is having her handle the ball a lot more. She likes playing defense because she is good at it. Personally, I am glad he is having her work on her fundamentals. It will make her a more well rounded player. Games start soon, so stay tuned!

Weekly Update
As I started this e-mail I have 13,598,912 seconds left in Iraq. Not bad. 22 more Surf n Turf's left also, however I missed this week again because I had to go to another destination and hang out with the big guy. It was a nice and relaxing break for one night. The weeks are flying by here, mostly due to my busy schedule. Summer turned 6 this past Monday and is having her Fancy Nancy birthday party this Saturday. I wish I could be there to see the fanciness that will be had. The weather here is nice right now. Still only about 80 for a high and morning lows in the 60's. Real nice......at least for another week or so. Dust is settling in again. I think we may all get some form of black lung from working with all of this dirt/sand in the air. The next month or so will be extremely busy for me so if I do not respond to your individual emails I apologize. I will try to get back to you in time. Thank you all for everything you do and do me a favor and grab some good BBQ or Tex-Mex food for me and enjoy! Godspeed!

Kiss A Pig
Today, to celebrate almost 158,000 minutes read by their school, Farmer Minor and his amazing pigs Daisy and Day2 (sp?) came to Poquoson Primary to celebrate their achievement in the Pig Out On Books Program. It was a really great assembly. The kids all got to dress up like farmers. The hardworking PTO (myself included) provided the cutest pig cupcakes and in the assembly, Mrs. Butler the principal, and all the teachers lined up to the kids cheering "Kiss A Pig" and did just that.
This is what Summer was supposed to wear to the assembly, but I looked at the calendar wrong so she actually wore it the day BEFORE the assembly. Yay me!
This is what she actually wore to the assembly.

Hearts Apart Spring Fling
Today we went to the Hearts Apart (deployed families group) Spring Fling. I was hoping to meet some new people, but unfortunately it wasn't really set up for that. The girls had a blast, though. I am thinking that the giant hamster ball will most likely appear on someone's birthday or Christmas wish list. You might notice that the girls are sporting new dos. As soon as I get some good pics of them I am going to post them. They are both super cute.

An Update From Dennis
Well folks.....only 23 more glorious weeks left in this part of the world. The past week has flown by for me. Decent weather so no duststorms to speak of for now. This is the rainy season here and the weather guy is saying that due to the lack of rain Iraq is recieving we are on line for one of the worst dust storm seasons in a long time. I had the opportunity last week to attend a St Patrick's Day party with some nice older ladies that I will have to tell you about some time ( they were very grandmother-like and well I will tell you later, but they are great Americans). About seven of us stopped by and they fed us all kinds of non-chow hall food, which was a welcome change. Lots of things with this job to keep me busy. I wish I could be home for Summer's Birthday this Monday, but once again the man states otherwise. Well time for me to run and take care of the big guy. Take care all and Godspeed!

Gilbert Natal 4/14/76 - 3/16/09
We are very saddened to hear of the passing of our friend Gilbert Natal. He commissioned with Dennis and then went on to teach 8th grade in San Antonio after separating from the Air Force. He finally succumbed to a long battle with cancer earlier this week. The world has lost a good man. Our sympathies and prayers go out to his family.
Art Shows
Both girls have recently had art shows / fundraisers at their schools. It was so much fun for them to see their art on display (not to mention for their shutterbug mommy to get some great pics of their fabulosity!) Anyway, I thought I would share their art with the world.

A Profound Thought and Pics From Dennis
"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Dr. Seuss Week
Summer's school celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday with a whole week of fun. Unfortunately, Monday was a snow day, so it was shortened by a day. Summer, as you all know, likes to do things like this up big, which, of course, I am all too happy to oblige. Here are some pics from that week.

Pieces of Flair
One of my fave apps on Facebook is Pieces of Flair. I got a great one about being a military wife and decided that I would find some more. Here is a collection of Mil Spouse flair!
